Weekends art link – Gao Xingjian and his paintings

It is officially the first day of the summer and nobody can concentrate on work properly (at least I can’t). So, today’s journey is all about dreaming  through Gao Xingjian‘s paintings.  Gao Xingjian has won a Nobel prize in literature in 2000 and although he is the only Chinese born writer who have won a Nobel in literature, he is not acknowledged in his country because of his political views. After leaving China and beginning a life in Europe in 1987, Gao supported himself by selling his paintings.

Gao has become known for his dramatic pieces that are neither figurative nor abstract, paintings that are about emerging shadows from his deepest self and could not be rendered in anything else but in ink. His work always touches me, I hope you like it too. If you want to see more of his paintings you can look here

Waiting. (2004) via here.

Hi! I am an architect who loves interior design. I created this digital space so that I could share with you my love for simplicity, Scandinavian minimalism and beauty in general. It is a place where architecture meets art, fashion and functionality. A place where I love to lay down and dream. Welcome to my home.
